Really interesting idea for a family photo. Individual shots, laid on top of each other in different layers in photoshop. (Photoshop is big into layers). See if you can figure out where the lights were placed just by looking at the picture. I figure there was at least 2 lights for each shot.
Today Piper (my daughter) took part in a photo shoot! It was for a brand of clothes that are incredibly beautiful, the Vancouver company is called Redfish, and was started by a mom who was handmaking clothes for her own kids and people were offering her money to make them some. They were surprised to see their clothes show up in the movie Eat, Pray, Love, where Julia Roberts pulls out a dress she was saving for her future child. The clothes are being sold in the Maternity and Baby store that Ms. Fairchild (Uyeyama) has started in Richmond. We are most excited to have Piper hopefully make the Spring Catalogue so we can have it as a souvenir or frame it or something. Here is a link to their catalogue so you can see the beautiful pics, and they also had someone make a video during their photo shoot from last year. It was very interesting to be in a professional photo shoot for the first time (the photographer is from New York and has shot celebrities and for ex. Vanity Fair, New York Times), and nervewracking trying to get Piper to behave. But she loves trying on clothes so she was happy. She got to keep one of her outfits as payment. What national leader believes in the power of photographs to garner popularity with the people? It's freaking superman, otherwise known as Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. When he's not shooting guns with his shirt off, he's cuddling puppies or bending frying pans with his bare hands! Luckily there always seems to be a photographer nearby to capture what I'm sure is a non-staged photo! See the complete list here.
Sunday was the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. A picture of the Tribute of Light Memorial just unveiled is shown above. 9/11 happened in the morning when I was doing my teacher training, do you remember where you were? It was definitely an important historical event in North America, but I remember in high school when the Berlin Wall came down and I had no idea it was such a big moment. Some of you were pretty young when it happened, so it might be interesting to see some of the incredible photos of what happened. Unless you're a gifted poet, it sometimes feels like words can't properly describe big events, that media like photos/videos are needed. Warning: Some of the images are disturbing (link). |
