Video here. "Erik Johansson creates realistic photos of impossible scenes -- capturing ideas, not moments. In this witty how-to, the Photoshop wizard describes the principles he uses to make these fantastical scenarios come to life, while keeping them visually plausible."
Umut Recber's Instagram profile here. He creates images using the kind of photoshop we've been doing lately - selections, layer masks, etc. and blending them really well. I think to create a really good image, you need to start with brainstorming an idea first. Then create it.
The Capture Photography Festival is a month long celebration of photography and lens-based art every April in Vancouver, Canada." They've just put some of the artist's work up for sale, it's a neat chance to see what kind of photos are done by professional artists. It's a real variety. Link here though they only show part of the whole photo.
Photographer describes their process here. Similar to our multiple exposure assignment, but way more photos.
JetBlue employee Timothy Labranche on all 100 seats of an Enbraer 190 aircraft. He's also done another with the 200 seats of an A321 here.
I love the way these are designed, with their own handwriting surrounding them. For your quote poster, you could put on a whole poem or an entire song instead of just one lyric, by doing the same kind of design. In Photoshop Elements you're going to have to use the space bar a lot, or use a lot of custom paths. In a program like InDesign (we have 4 copies) or the full version of Photoshop (we have 1 copy) you can create a custom text box by drawing around your subject. Let me know if you want to delve into that.
The photographer's name is Trent Bell, and the photos were taken from here. Sometimes it seems like Photoshop is only used to make models skinnier or create silly things. This is a great story to show it used for some real good.
Last summer a Nathan Steffel lost his baby daughter Sophia after only 6 weeks. He posted this online: "My daughter passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?" Full story here. |
