Great step-by-step explanation here. If you aren't sure what a timelapse is, google some, they're very impressive. We have a gopro, feel free to borrow it.
View fullscreen and pump up the resolution to 720p if your computer can handle it. Hi-def time lapse video taken from the International Space Station as it flew over the earth (or, more accurately, the earth rotated beneath it) from Aug-Oct 2011. Incredible views of electricity in cities, northern lights, lighting storms, etc. http://vimeo.com/27359051 (It's in high definition, so fullscreen it if your computer can handle it.) This video is a stop motion video made up of a year's worth of staged photographs in different places in California. I don't think I can explain how cool it is, both as photographs and as a video. Notice they sometimes add a neat effect where only the center is in focus and the top and bottom are out of focus. This can be attained with a Tilt shift lens, which can be cheap (LensBaby) or can be added in an editing program afterwards. And my gosh, does the right song ever make a difference to the impact of a video! Notice that the climax of the song coincides with the fireworks? Definitely by design.

This front page is for miscellaneous Media Arts things I find interesting but don't relate specifically to course work. Select the top tabs for assignments, etc.
