Local man Mark Truelove has been working for several years on adding colour to old black and white photographs, starting with WW1 as part of the "First World War in Colour" project by the Vimy Foundation, and now just general life. (Click on the link, the sliders way of displaying them is pretty awesome)
It seems to make them more realistic, and hopefully impactful, once they are in colour. "When you look at old black and white photos, the past seems very far away." "Once the photos are colourized, the faces look like they may have been in a war last year." News video/interview showing the process here. Check out how many layer masks he's using! This front page is for miscellaneous Media Arts things I find interesting but don't relate specifically to course work. Select the top tabs for assignments, etc.
