Umut Recber's Instagram profile here. He creates images using the kind of photoshop we've been doing lately - selections, layer masks, etc. and blending them really well. I think to create a really good image, you need to start with brainstorming an idea first. Then create it.
Lots of places run video-making, or computer animation, etc. kinds of camps during Spring Breaks and summer in the lower mainland. Here's one in the Okanagan instead: Center for the Digital Arts and Technology are running a weeklong camp this Spring Break. To see more details, click here.

"Stock photos" are generic photos available for anyone to pay to use. Many advertisements or web photos for businesses, rather than take the photos themselves, will purchase them on a stock photography website. ex. "We need a photo of some people in a meeting." "We need a child at the beach eating ice cream." "Someone looking stressed." Websites exist where you do a search and pay per image that you want to use.
