Contest details here. Open to youth 5-18. "Photos or artwork should depict what forests teach us and why they’re important. Some examples: producing oxygen, removing carbon dioxide from the air, totem poles, canoes and other First Nations cultural uses, recreational activities: hiking, camping, plus creating jobs that provide wood for homes and other products we rely on." 3 winners will receive $100.

What makes your city unique? Behind the glittering skylines of our country’s major cities, historic neighbourhoods, picturesque parks, fantastic festivals and architectural gems await. We want to see your best photos capturing the colour and life of Canadian cities.
(c) Active outdoors
How do you stay active? Whether it’s hiking a mountain trail, paddling along the shore of a still lake, or cross-country skiing through fresh snow in your local park, we’re looking for photos of you, your friends and family enjoying Canada’s diverse landscapes in every season.
(d) Iconic landscapes
From the wave-swept fiords of Newfoundland, to the dramatic peaks of the Canadian Rockies, to the ancient forest groves of British Columbia, to the breathtaking openness of the Arctic tundra, we want to see your best photos of Canada’s iconic landscapes.
(e) Wild weather
Canada is notorious for its weather extremes! We’re looking for your best shots that tell an amazing weather story, be it a dramatic thunderstorm, a record-breaking snowfall, or the simple sculptural beauty of clouds on a summer’s day.

This one is different than the others. You have to travel to a location and have a time limit. Many different trades/skills competitions will be going on at the same time in the same place. For example, along with Photography, there will be Electronics, Auto Repair, Baking, Fashion, Computer Animation, etc.
Regional Competition for our region (Lower Fraser Valley) will be held at Kwantlen in Cloverdale on a Saturday early March.
If you do well, the Provincial Competition will be in early April at the TradeEx in Abbotsford.
You are given a series of challenges that you must finish before the day is over. You can see what they are, and more information, here. Let me know if you're interested as we must register you ahead of time. You can be awarded a Gold, Silver, or Bronze level of achievement.

Every year, BC Ferries Vacations are offering up a huge week-long vacation around BC. Details about the contest, based on photos of wildlife, are on their website. Here is the link to the 2019 contest, you may need to search the site for the current one. Contest is open from March 1 - 21, and you can submit up to 10 photos you've taken in the last 3 years. This is put on by a yearbook company. Winners are printed in a calendar that is given to many schools around North America. (Sands' own Elizabeth was a winner in their first contest last year.
