You can watch films that were submitted last year. Note you'll have to finish your class movie a little early to submit yours on time (April 30). Let me know if you're planning to!

Story here. Remember when we used the design process for brainstorming our t-shirts and buttons? Here's another one at work. What is needed? Who's this for? etc. Don't care that you're only a 14 year old from BC. It doesn't have to turn out to be a hit around the globe. Although, your facebook tool for keeping track of homework just might.
The City of Vancouver hired a graphic design firm to update their logo for $8000. The city's legion of graphic designers were so appalled, they wrote an open letter to the city about how terrible it was. The best part of it was that they pointed out AMAZING city logos that exist around the world, and I was blown away by how good a city logo can be. (seriously, scroll to the bottom of the open letter and read about some of the city logos! Great thoughtful design!) The top one is the new logo. Here's an article. There's also a link to how similar it is to Chilliwack's.
"Tomorrow's Master of Digital Media" is a 2 week summer camp for students entering grades 9-12, looking to enter the video game or digital media industry. There is an information session on April 27 6-8pm, register online and learn more about the program here. Behind the scenes video of one of the biggest, most epic TV productions, Game of Thrones. After Director and camera operator, why are there hundreds of people listed in a movie's credits? Who else is in a movie crew? This video purports to explain. Maybe you'll find a job you're interested in.
Why are all Pixar movies amazingly good? Not just because of the animation, there are plenty of movies with great animation that aren't also amazing movies. It's because they tell really good stories. Here's a link to a Khan Academy video class teaching you how to become a better storyteller when you are creating your own film ideas.
Celtx, the program we use for scriptwriting, analyzed some of the scripts of the Oscar-nominated films. If you're curious, here's the link and an example below.
