...to Sarah and Dee! Their stopmotion won their category (Secondary, Long 1+min Animation) in the Delta Interschool Film Festival. Their block was pretty happy to win a pizza party as the prize! Their film, and all the winners this year, is located at deltalearns.ca/diff. Next year, let's work on getting our movies done on time so we can enter more categories!
Just because there's video of something, or a photo of something, doesn't mean it's proof. What's the context, what happened before or after? Does the article really say what the "click bait" headline implies? Is it manufactured "fake news"? This is illustrated in this classic advertisement for The Guardian (newspaper). There is a really cool job out there, where all you do is make sound effects for films. Footsteps, doors creaking, punches, wind rustling through the trees. It's called "Foley". I was surprised to learn, in this interesting radio podcast from 99% Invisible, that nature documentaries require foley artists to substitute in the animal noises. There's actually quite an interesting and sometimes scandalous history of "faking" in order to show the "truth" that is difficult to record. Click here to listen to the episode and see some of the video the radio podcast talks about.
I loves me a good podcast. |
