100 different movie dance scenes edited together for one music video. The key to editing something like this smoothly is making sure the movements are happening on the beats of the music - that finetuning is what separates an awkward mashup into one that smoothly slides from one scene to the next. ps. There's also this one, which involves cuts from 280 movies of characters speaking the words to the song. I don't know how these kind of videos are done. Scripts or closed captioning put into a computer so they can be searched?
Generous tax credits, a skilled workforce, especially special effects, the same time zone as Hollywood LA, and the ability to be able to look like almost any city in the world, Vancouver is often called "Hollywood North" because of the large numbers of movies and television shows shot here. If you want to get into working on a set, this might be the best city to live in! This video looks at how Vancouver can be made to look like other cities, because not many are actually set here. It's often said (by me too) that this is a Golden Age of television. Movie stars used to disdain tv roles, but ever since Kiefer Sutherland starred in 24 it's become a strong career choice. Most are shot in single-camera format (takes longer, so pricier). The writing is incredible.
But are we at the peak? How can studios afford to produce all this expensive quality programming if there's too many shows for people to see the advertising that pays for it? If many pvr and skip commericials, are there other ways for television to make money? Article with interview and more photos here. He tried many images different from the other photographers also shooting the royal tour in Australia.
Sometimes it seems like Photoshop is only used to make models skinnier or create silly things. This is a great story to show it used for some real good.
Last summer a Nathan Steffel lost his baby daughter Sophia after only 6 weeks. He posted this online: "My daughter passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?" Full story here. |
