The Capture Photography Festival is a month long celebration of photography and lens-based art every April in Vancouver, Canada." They've just put some of the artist's work up for sale, it's a neat chance to see what kind of photos are done by professional artists. It's a real variety. Link here though they only show part of the whole photo.
This accurately captures my feelings about photos using flash. Especially Nosferatu "Tomorrow's Master of Digital Media" is a 2 week summer camp for students entering grades 9-12, looking to enter the video game or digital media industry. There is an information session on April 27 6-8pm, register online and learn more about the program here. The beautiful short film recreates 35 of the most famous iconic photos. See if you recognize any of them! There were definitely some new ones to me. Interesting that they didn't just use the original photos, but they acted them out. The ad is to celebrate the 100th year of Leica (a photography company). More information, and a breakdown of all the photographs, is available here. NASA has commissioned some fake Space Tourism posters, and the results are some fantastic graphic design. They call back to the tourism posters and magazine ads of decades ago. They are also offering large versions of them online for free downloading here.

" Were the old commercials really that bad and superficial? If you never saw them, here's one from 2000. And they were always like this. What kind of toys do we like for our daughter instead? Up until now it's been stuff like lego, blocks, arts supplies, 80's video games, and something called Goldieblocks (for girl engineers - see below). But maybe, for the first time, we'll be considering a Barbie for Christmas. |
