Story here. Cool to see someone your age from where you live do big things. It's easy to think "that could never happen to me, that only happens to special people in different circumstances than me" or something like that. Vancouver's actually a total hotbed for getting a job in making TV/movies, it's referred to as "Hollywood North". So few people become the actors, but there's a lot of other jobs in the industry behind the scenes if it's the kind of career you're interested in. UK street artist Slinkachu has been photographing tiny figurines he remodels, paints, and sets up in big cities around the world. Close up shots of tiny objects like these are called "macro" shots (the flower setting on the camera dial is optimized for these). His blog with more of his work is here. In his own words: "The 'Little People Project' started in 2006. It involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which I then place, photograph and leave on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project. The street-based side of my work plays with the notion of surprise and I aim to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes I set up, more evident through the photography and the titles I give these scenes aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed. But underneath this, there is always some humour. I want people to be able to empathise with the tiny people in my works. 1. long exposure (long shutter speed) of a firework
2. How do they get those pictures of rock climbers? 3. A neatly designed sunrise in the produce department 4. The best redesigned school bus interior I've ever seen 5. A sunset with a huge array of colour differences 6. Lego costume made with a cardboard box and solo glasses. Best costume design for the price. 7. Ireland tree tunnel. Best example of "framing" composition. 8. Lightning lighting up a cloud 9. Skateboarder with a long shutter speed 10. Neat reversal design for a poster of the movie "Brave" all pics posted to aggregator reddit.com, I'm not sure about where they came from to get there. Sweet marketing idea for the upcoming movie Monsters Inc. 2 : Monsters University... they have designed a professional website for Monsters University. Check it out here. Very detailed. It even has a .edu suffix to their website (I thought it was reserved for educational institutions only, like .gov is for government). So on first glance, it seems like a funny little video concept you and a couple friends could come up with and shoot. Or a skit on a late night show. And then you see at the end that it was actually created by a municipal council government! Did not expect that. |
