There is a really cool job out there, where all you do is make sound effects for films. Footsteps, doors creaking, punches, wind rustling through the trees. It's called "Foley". I was surprised to learn, in this interesting radio podcast from 99% Invisible, that nature documentaries require foley artists to substitute in the animal noises. There's actually quite an interesting and sometimes scandalous history of "faking" in order to show the "truth" that is difficult to record. Click here to listen to the episode and see some of the video the radio podcast talks about.
I loves me a good podcast. Comments are closed.
