Article with interview and more photos here. Chris Jackson works for Getty images (famous photo organisation), and has been shooting the royal family for years. He tried many images different from the other photographers also shooting the royal tour in Australia.
Teacher wears the same outfit for yearbook photos for 40 years :) Story here. ps. Did you see Mr. Evans' photos in the last few yearbooks?
My favourite season... We have so many evergreens in BC we don't see all the glory. I can't wait to tour the Eastern US when I'm retired for Autumn. Also, to eat lobster in the Maritimes. Source and more photos here.
Why is everyone just using plain paint? This wife decorated her husband's car in sharpie. More pics here. Click any of these to enlarge.
Full list of photos here. Photographer Sandro Miller and Actor John Malkovich "teamed up to recreate some of history's most iconic portraits, naming the resulting body of work "Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters." "Eighteen months ago I flew to France to see John, armed with a package of 30 iconic images by 28 master photographers, and to tell him about my idea for a new project," Miller explained... he and a team of experts spent the next eight months dissecting every last detail of the photos, an effort to ensure the project honored -- not mocked -- the original photographers. "My biggest fear was that people wouldn’t take this project seriously. I didn’t want these to be a parody," Miller said in the statement. "I was serious about paying homage to these photographers and photographs that changed my perspective on photography. These images inspired me throughout my career and developed me into the photographer I am today ... This is my way of saying thank you to the masters that created these amazing images." So, school started a little late this year. Things are a little messier (schedules, courses) that normally get cleaned up in June. The counsellors and admin and staff are working overtime to get everything set-up to normal as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. Other independent schools in BC have been doing your Examinable course for 3 weeks already, the yearbook company's deadlines haven't changed because the rest of North America hasn't been on strike. Nothing we can do about it, we'll just have to work hard and put our nose to the grindstone (there's you're old-timey idiom of the day) A good lesson for life is: you shouldn't stress about things you can't do anything about. 2 things to keep in mind when you're printing photos.
1. Expect it to print a little darker than what you see onscreen with all the light shooting through your monitor. 2. There can be a wide variety in how they turn out depending on where you get them printed. Neat website showing the variety. So where would I suggest? For cost, cheapest is Costco or Walmart, or Snapfish (online if you can wait for the mail), if you are just getting snapshots and don't care about the quality. For quality, where we live I recommend PhotoExpert in Scottsdale Mall. They do an excellent job, you can put in a photo order online, and they said if you mention which school we're from and that you're in the photography class they'll give you a discount, so it's not that much more expensive. This guy on fire at a soccer match. It appears the police officer attempted to put out the flare of the soccer fan with pepper spray (which is oil based, so... flammable) Fortunately, apparently the guys' fine. There's a video of it here that shows that despite what the picture looks like the fireball was only there for a brief second. Especially with portraits, keep shooting often. You never know when they'll suddenly flash that one perfect smile or laugh or look for a brief moment. You can delete the others later. |
